Located at the fertile hinterland of Chianan Plain at the southwest part of the island, Tainan City connects to its east with Rende and Yoagken Townships of Tainan County; west with Taiwan Strait, opposite Penghu offshore; separating Qiading and Hunei Townships of Kaohsiung County by Ere-Chen-Hun River; boarding Zengwen River Qigu Township of Tainan County on the north bank of Zengwen River. Comprising of all flat land, Tainan City occupies 17,500 hectares and with a total population of 740 thousands. Running across the north area and Annan area, Yanshui River flows from east to west through Anping Port to Taiwan Strait. In addition to newly emerging hi-tech industry and traditional industry which have been placed with equal importance, Tainan City has also devoted much effort to the development of eco-tourism.
